Lady Gaga’s ex Taylor Kinney apologises for ‘liking’ shady comment

Actor Taylor Kinney, Lady Gaga‘s ex-fiancé, has apologised after “liking” a shady comment about her that whipped her fans into a fury.

The 37-year-old Chicago Fire star on Monday posted an Instagram photo of himself and former hockey player Bryan Bickell, which was captioned: “Stoked to be out with my guy @bbickell and his wife @abickell for the weekend. 29. Good times in Chicago @bickellfoundation cheers @chicagocutsteakhouse.”

Kinney later liked a comment on the post that read, “Stoked you got away from Gaga. #Hollyweird.”

And Gaga’s fans, known affectionately as Little Monsters, came to the A Star Is Born actress’ defence.  “Imagine being bitter and liking shady comments after someone’s success,” one person wrote. Another added: “I had so much love and respect for you until you liked this s–t. Way to trash someone you were once going to marry.”

Kinney and 32-year-old Gaga (real name: Stefani Germanotta) dated for five years. He proposed on Valentine’s Day in 2015.

On Thursday, Kinney returned to the Instagram photo and commented, “Sorry for the ‘like.’ It was an accident. I’m only proud and happy for Stef.” Back in October, amid A Star Is Born‘s awards season buzz, he spoke kindly of his ex and wished her the best.

“I’ll tell you that I’m really proud. I don’t know. It’s watching someone live their dream, so, continued success and I hope it keeps climbing,” he told Entertainment Tonight.

“The sky is the limit.”

The good fortune has certainly played out for the pop singer, who won an Oscar, Golden Globe, Critic’s Choice Award, and a BAFTA for A Star Is Born. In the film, she portrays Ally, the love interest and music collaborator of Bradley Cooper‘s troubled rockstar Jackson Maine.

Cooper starred in, co-wrote, and also directed the film.

Gaga released a statement following her split from Kinney in July 2016, which read, “Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break.”

And in her documentary, Lady Gaga: Five Foot Two, she addressed the former couple’s struggle as she landed her career-changing role in A Star Is Born.

“I did a movie and lose Taylor,” she said through tears. “This is the third time I’ve had my heart broken like this.”

Rumours of a secret romance between her and co-star Cooper have swirled since their enchanting performance of ‘Shallow’ at the Oscars on Monday, but the celebrated musician and actress has shut down that speculation.

“First of all, social media, quite frankly, is the toilet of the Internet. And what it has done to pop culture is abysmal,” she said during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that aired Wednesday in the US. “And people saw love, and guess what, that’s what we wanted you to see.”

Cooper has been dating Russian model Irina Shayk for years and has a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter with her.

Gaga confirmed her split from fiancé Christian Carino last week.
